Animal Farm Collection

Many times the initial conceptions of jewellery design are formed between the book covers. Animal Farm is a collection of brooches named after the George Orwell book. The collection was designed at the invitation of Ptuj Regional Museum at Ptuj Castle, from a starting point of Roman history. I was interested in phaleras, i.e. the decorations worn on the breastplate by Roman soldiers. I was deeply shocked to see which individuals and values have been put on a pedestal for thousands of years. I leafed through books of Latin sayings. The miniature silver animal heads are placed on colorful columns, inscribed with a Latin saying, specially chosen for each protagonist of the Animal Farm collection.

The collection received Recognition Award from Designers Society of Slovenija.
